The story has been like this for months now, and now the brand has decided to focus on fulfilling the massive order backlog for its SUV line-up. Mahindra has also announced that several upcoming vehicles are being prepared to be launched in the market, but they will not be introduced in the near future.

Mahindra SUV line-up: Pending orders and delivery plans

Among the popular SUVs of Mahindra, the Scorpio – the Scorpio Classic And the Scorpio N – currently has the highest number of pending orders at over 1.17 lakh units. According to our dealer sources, the waiting period for the Scorpio Classic is around 30 weeks, while the more expensive and new Scorpio N could be delivered in around 75 weeks. As far as production is concerned, Mahindra says that it is currently manufacturing 14,000 units of the SUV every month.

Mahindra’s feature-laden flagship SUV, the XUV700, continues to be a strong seller and currently has 78,000 open orders. The carmaker is currently manufacturing around 8,000 units of the XUV700 every month to meet the backlog. According to dealers, the delivery timeline currently stretches to just over a year – around thirteen months.

The retro-styled Thar, which is popular in the lifestyle SUV space, currently has 58,000 pending orders. Mahindra introduced the Thar 2WD a few months back with a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 2.0-litre 2WD petrol automatic paired with an attractive starting price, adding to the waiting period for the SUV.

The brand is currently manufacturing around 14,000 units of the Thar and dealer sources tell us that there is currently a waiting period of one year for the 2WD variant. Meanwhile, the Thar 4WD can be delivered in about a month or two in most places.

XUV300 Compact SUV And its XUV400 EV The siblings jointly have around 29,000 pending orders. Deliveries for most variants of the XUV300 are being promised in about a month, while the XUV400 is readily available in select cities. Mahindra says that it is making around 10,000 SUVs every month.

bolero range, including bolero neo, currently has around 8,200 pending orders. Both the SUVs are mostly available for immediate delivery and have a production capacity of around 10,000 units every month.

Mahindra says waiting period will be reduced within 6 months

On its latest earnings call, Mahindra said it will add 10,000 units of production capacity at its plants within the next six months. This will help in reducing the waiting period to some extent, especially for models like the XUV700 which are built at the Chakan plant.

However, Mahindra also said that its production is still being affected by the semi-conductor shortage, and the company could not manufacture close to 12,000 units in the last quarter due to the issue.

Mahindra’s upcoming SUV launch

Mahindra says it is currently focused on utilizing its full production capacity and completing pending orders. The brand is gearing up for two new launches, the much-anticipated Thar 5-Door And a XUV300 Facelift, According to sources both the models will go on sale next year.
