Land Rover has dropped the suffix of the Range Rover Sport SVR and introduced the new Range Rover Sport SV. The luxury high-performance SUV now comes with a completely new engine with mild-hybrid technology as part of the brand’s green powertrain strategy and a revised avatar but promises equally attractive performance potential. Land Rover has stated that it will sell the car as a single variant only, to customers selected through invitation only.
The new Range Rover Sport SV is powered by a new 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with mild-hybrid technology, which replaces the supercharged 5.0-litre V8 motor that powers under the hood of the Range Rover Sport SVR Is. The new engine is capable of producing 626 hp of peak power and massive torque output of 800 Nm. This means that the high-performance SUV in its revised avatar could churn out 59 HP more power and 100 Nm of extra torque than before. The car gets an eight-speed automatic gearbox for transmission duties.

Talking about its performance figures, the new Range Rover Sport SV, which is by far the most powerful in the lineup, reaches the speed mark of 96 kmph from standstill in 3.6 seconds. The British automaker says that the SUV tops out at 290 kmph. Considering the 2,560 kg curb weight of the SUV, these are quite impressive figures.
Land Rover says that customers can opt for world’s first 23-inch carbon fiber wheels, reducing the car’s curb weight by 36 kg. In addition to this, the SUV comes with the option of carbon ceramic Brembo brakes which shave off 34 kgs from the car. Also, the customers can opt for a carbon fiber hood to save around 76 kg of weight.
The SUV claims to come with unique front seats that have built-in transducers. These seats vibrate based on music being played through the 1,430-watt 29-speaker Meridian sound system. As the automaker claims, this allows the driver and front passenger to feel the music.
