Volkswagen Taigun price, new variant, special graphics, rivals

At launch, the Volkswagen Taigun It got two engine options – a 1.0 turbo-petrol and a 1.5 turbo-petrol (TSI). Volkswagen has now introduced two new variants on the Tigun 1.5 TSI – GT Plus with manual and GT with dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). These new variants will be available for sale from June 2023.

Volkswagen Tigun 1.5 TSI Engine, Gearbox

The 150hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine was earlier only available with the DSG on the top-spec GT Plus trim of the Tigun, while the manual gearbox was available solely with the mid-spec GT trim. With both trims now getting a manual and DSG, Volkswagen has widened the appeal and availability of the Tigun 1.5 TSI.

Volkswagen Taigun gets new colors

Apart from the new variants, the carmaker has also introduced the GT Edge Limited Collection, which brings two new paint schemes on the GT Plus variant – Deep Black Pearl and Carbon Steel Matte. Additionally, all variants of the Taigun will get a new Lava Blue paint shade.

The GT Plus trims also get two new liveries – the Trail Concept and the Sport Concept. The body graphics, roof rack and alloys on the rear three-quarters of the SUV in the Trail Concept (shown in white) are finished in black.

On the other hand, the Sport Concept gets checkered flag inspired graphics on the lower half of the doors and rear fenders and TSI sticker on the rear doors.

Volkswagen Tigun Price & Rivals

Currently, the Taigun GT manual costs Rs 16.26 lakh and the GT Plus DSG costs Rs 19.06 lakh, both ex-showroom, India. Expect the GT DSG trim to command a slight premium over the manual and the GT Plus manual to be slightly more affordable than the DSG variant.
